【摘要】:The25-mm[1-in.]deflectionIFDmethodisrecommendedforproductionscreeningandqualitycontrolonfullsizecushionsonly.Applicablecushionthicknessestobetestedbythistestmethodareonlythoselistedinthistestmethod.Furtherresearchanddevelopmentarerequiredbeforethistestmethodwillbeapplicabletoothercushionthicknesses.Thistestmethodisdesignedtogiveavalueapproximatingthe25%IFDona100-mm[4-in.]thickpieceoffoamwhentheactualspecimenthicknesstestediswithintherangeslistedinthetestmethod.Incaseofdisagreement,therefereemethodistheIFDprocedureinTestMethodsD3574,TestB1.Theuserofthistestmethodshallestablishthecorrelationbetweenthistestmethodandtherefereemethod.1.1Thistestmethodcoversascreeningtypequalitycontroltestusedtodetermineifflexiblepolyurethanefoamcushionsarewithinthespecifiedgraderangeforfirmness.1.2Thistestmethodislimitedtofoamswiththicknessesthatare75mm[3in.]orgreater.1.3ThistestmethodisbasedonthefactthatthetraditionalindustrystandardthicknessforIndentationForceDeflection(IFD)is100mm[4in.],andthetraditionalpercentdeflectionforIFDacceptanceandproductplanningis25%.Withrespectthentothesetraditionalindustryconventions,a25%deflectionona100-mm[4-in.]cushionwouldbe25mm[1in.].Thus,deflectingproperthicknesscushions25mm[1in.]willdetermineiftheflexiblepolyurethanefoamiswithinthespecifiedgraderangefor25%IFD.1.4Cushionthicknesseslessthan75mm[3in.]shallnotbetestedforIFDusingthistestmethod.1.5Thistestmethodisintendedtoprovideaquickandsimplemethodtoscreenflexiblepolyurethanefoamsfordeterminationofitsfirmnessgrade.1.6Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Note18212ISO2439isasimilartest,buttherearetechnicaldifferences.
