【摘要】:Thecoldstrengthofarefractorymaterialisanindicationofitssuitabilityforuseinrefractoryconstruction.(Itisnotameasureofperformanceatelevatedtemperatures.)Thesetestmethodsarefordeterminingtheroomtemperatureflexuralstrengthin3-pointbending(coldmodulusofrupture)orcompressivestrength(coldcrushingstrength),orboth,forallrefractoryproducts.Considerablecaremustbeusedtocomparetheresultsofdifferentdeterminationsofthecoldcrushingstrengthormodulusofrupture.Thespecimensizeandshape,thenatureofthespecimenfaces(thatis,as-formed,sawed,orground),theorientationofthosefacesduringtesting,theloadinggeometry,andtherateofloadapplication,mayallsignificantlyaffectthenumericalresultsobtained.Comparisonsoftheresultsbetweendifferentdeterminationsshouldnotbemadeifoneormoreoftheseparametersdifferbetweenthetwodeterminations.Therelativeratioofthelargestgrainsizetothesmallestspecimendimensionmaysignificantlyaffectthenumericalresults.Forexample,smaller,cutspecimenscontaininglargegrainsmaypresentdifferentresultsthanthebricksfromwhichtheywerecut.Undernocircumstancesshould6-by1-by1-in.(152-by25-by25-mm)specimensbepreparedandtestedformaterialscontaininggrainswithamaximumgraindimensionexceeding0.25in.(6.4mm).Thistestmethodisusefulforresearchanddevelopment,engineeringapplicationanddesign,manufacturingprocesscontrol,andfordevelopingpurchasingspecifications.1.1Thesetestmethodscoverthedeterminationofthecoldcrushingstrengthandthemodulusofrupture(MOR)ofdriedorfiredrefractoryshapesofalltypes.1.2Thetestmethodsappearinthefollowingsections:TestMethodSectionsColdCrushingStrength4to9ModulusofRupture10to151.3Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
