【摘要】:Direct-readingpolychromatorsareinstrumentscommonlyusedformulti-elementspectrochemicalanalysis.Thisguideseekstodescribethoseaspectsofsuchinstrumentsthatareofsignificanceinachievingusefulspectrochemicalperformance.Awarenessofparametersdescribedinthispracticewillmakemanufacturerscognizantoffactorstheyshouldconsiderindesigninginstruments,assistpurchasersofinstrumentsinmakingintelligentcomparisonsofcompetingdesigns,andmakeusersawareofthecompromisestheymustmakeinperformingparticulardeterminations.Adequatedescriptionofspectrometerspermitsformingqualifiedappraisalsonthreeimportantperformancecharacteristics:accuracyofanalysis,detectionlimits,andfreedomfromlineinterferences.1.1Thisguidecoversfeaturesofaspectrometerorpolychromatorusedforopticalemission,direct-reading,spectrochemicalanalysis.Apolychromatorinthissenseconsistsofaspectrometerwithanextendedandfixedwavelengthrangeandanarrayoffixedexitslitstoisolatethespectrallinesoftheelementstobemeasured.1.1.1Thisguidedoesnotapplytodirect-readingsystemsthatemployechellespectrometersandvidiconorotherdetectorswherethedesignparametersarequitedifferent.1.2Thisguidecoversonlytheopticalportionoftheinstrument,fromexcitationstandtophotomultipliers.1.2.1Onlygeneralstatementsaremadeaboutsourceunits.1.2.2Photomultipliersareincludedtotheextentthattheyaremountedwithinthespectrometertoconvertopticalintensitiestoelectricalsignals,andestablishtheinstrumentalprecisionofeachchannelasalightmeasuringdevice.Readoutsystemsarenotincluded.1.3Itisnotthepurposeofthisguidetoestablishbindingspecificationsortolerances,butrather,tocallattentiontoimportantparametersthatmanufacturersshouldincludeintheirliterature,toprovidemethodsformeasuringthoseparameters,andtoassignvaluesthatareindicativeofacceptablygoodperformance.Becauseofthegreatvarietyofdemandsimposedbyspectrochemicaltechniques,rigidperformancecriteriaarenotfeasible.1.4ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyproblems,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
